The Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics (KNUTE) was first established in 1946, as the Kiev branch of a larger Soviet-era institution.
Over the years, the institution has evolved into a fully-fledged university in its own right, with a number of different teaching and social facilities. The university is mainly based on a large campus east of the Dnieper River in Kiev, Ukraine.
Kiev is a historic city, one of largest and most important in Europe, and for centuries has acted as a bridge between eastern and western Europe.
The primary focus of the Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics is economics and business, with large schools having been developed in both these disciplines. However, the university also offers schools in other related subjects, such as law and management, and many of these offer both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
The university has an arts and culture center, which is utilised by amateur theatre groups, a chamber choir and dance groups. It also houses a recording studio for contemporary music groups.
In 2015, the institution founded the Center of European Education, which trains French-speaking specialists in management and enterprise fields. Students here study the French language intensively in their first and second years, with most lectures and seminars held in French by faculty from the University of Auvergne Clermont.
The Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics has also produced a number of famous alumni within Ukraine, including politicians such as Ukrainian prime minister Arseniy Yatsneyuk and diplomat Mikhailo Reznik.
The University trains, retrains and offers programs for the qualification improvement of specialists in the sphere of foreign and home trade, financial and banking systems, the Customs, competitive policy, insurance, economy of entrepreneurship, marketing, advertising, commercial and finance law, financial analysis and control, expertise of goods and services, tourism, hotel and restaurant business, consumer rights protection, exhibition activity, commercial activity on the realty market.
Modernization of higher education was fulfilled. The academic process is formed with the help of interactive methods and the credit – module system has been introduced. The University is the developer of the branch standards of education in Ukraine.
KNUTE carries out training of highly qualified specialists on Bachelor and Master programs as well as scientific personnel in the post-graduate and doctoral courses.
Besides the base institution where 5 faculties are functioning 6 institutes, 8 colleges, technical schools and high commercial schools are part of the University. They are situated in Kiev, Kharkiv, Vinnitsa, Chernivtsy, Khmelnitsky, Uzhgorod, Kolomyia, Yalta. Over 34 thousand students study at the University.
The academic staff of KNUTE is highly qualified academically and professionally. The level of its academic qualification reaches 80%.
